Crashpad FAQs

Quiet - Clean - Convenient - Secure

Here's all the stuff folks have asked which I couldn't think of anyplace better to put.

Are there any discounts?

Yes, pay 11 months in advance and the 12th month is free.  That's a better rate of return than most investments.

If I don't submit a schedule, will there still be a place to sleep?

I go out of my way to make sure there is room for everyone, even if that means limiting the number of folks who can rent space.  It should never happen, but it's always best to submit your schedule.

Is there storage for my stuff?

There is plenty of room for the basics of crashpad living.  Most folks keep a complete set of toiletries, some clothing, and a set of sheets at the crashpad.  If there's something big or unusual just ask.

How does the door combination work?

Assuming you've paid, you'll receive an email at the beginning of each month with the new door combination. If the code is 1 - 2 - 3 - 4, you'll press each of those buttons one after the other.  If the code is 1 - (23) - (45), you'll press 1, then press button 2 and 3 simultaneously, then press button 4 and 5 simultaneously.

How does the free long distance work?

Both lines have unlimited long distance voice and fax calls.  There are phones at each bedside and in the TV room.  Other phones around the house have line 1 only.  The FAX machine is in the TV room.

How does the free internet work?

There is high-speed wired internet at each bed side and in the TV room.  There is high-speed wireless internet using the network name FLY.  There is no security on either connection.  There is a computer in the TV room.

What about laundry?

Most folks bring their own sheets & pillow cases and keep them at the crashpad.  There is individual storage for you to keep your white towels and TWIN size sheets and will be washed for you automatically every month.  Bulk soap from Sam's Club is available if you want to do personal laundry.

Where do I keep my flight bag?

Most folks never bring it into the house -- mainly because they don't want to lug them up and down the stairs.  The entry porch (all season room) is where most folks leave their bags.

I heard that there's not much headroom in the crashpad?

You heard right. The ceiling in the sleeping area and TV room is 6' 1" and taller pilots wont like it much. The other areas have a little more headroom.
